2018 Youth Project Grant

The Washington State Holstein Youth Project Grant application is available and can be downloaded below.  This grant provides help to youth wanting to purchase a registered Holstein animal.  Applications must be postmarked by January 20, 2018.   Finalists will be notified and interviews conducted to determine the grant recipient(s) prior to March 1, 2018.   Please pass the application on to anyone between the ages of 9-18 that may be interested in applying for the grant.  Applicants do not need to be members of the Washington State Junior Holstein Association.  For additional information, please contact Diane Magnochi at magnochi@centurylink.net

​​2018 State Holstein Convention

Lewis County will be hosting the 2018 State Holstein convention February 2-3 at Great Wolf Lodge in Centralia, Washington.   The Junior Holstein members will be holding a silent auction from 4-6 pm on Friday, February 2nd to earn funds to help them travel to National Convention in June.   If you have an item that you would like to donate and item to the auction or make a monetary donation, please contact Cathy (boisser@comcast.net).

2018 National Junior Holstein Convention

This coming June, 17 Jr. Holstein members and 3 advisors from the state will be traveling to Traverse City, Michigan to attend the 2018 National Junior Holstein Convention. They will have members participating in dairy bowl, jeopardy, and speech competitions as well as entering multiple educational displays, a scrapbook, digital scrapbook, and a state banner.

2017 Washington State Holstein Association Scholarship Recipient

This scholarship is awarded annually to a Junior Holstein Member who has demonstrated leadership skills, academic ability, an interest in dairy cattle, and is pursuing higher education. Additionally, the ambition for a dairy or agriculture related career, while not a requirement, is highly encouraged. This years recipient is Nicole Buell from Marysville, WA. Nicole plans on attending Washington State University this fall.

Dan Frohning Outstanding Junior Member Award

The Dan Frohning Outstanding Junior Member Award is given to a Washington Junior Holstein Member who exemplifies exceptional sportsmanship, leadership, and interest in the dairy industry. The 2016 recipient was Derek Littrel, WA.

Hannah Zylstra Award

The Hannah Zylstra Award is given to the Washington State Junior Holstein Overall Showman at the State Black and White Show in July. The 2016 recipient was Blake Schoenbachler from Stanwood, WA.
